Despite winning against 2009 Champions League finalist's, they went out needing Napoli to lose against Villarreal. The Spanish side did not succeed. Goals from Silva and Yaya Touré gave City hope. Arsene Wenger put out a weakened side when they met Olympiacos at the Karaiskakis Stadium. First half goals from Djebbour and Fuster put The Greeks 2-0 up. Then a terrific volley from Yossi Benayoun reduced the deficit to 1 goal. But in the 89th minute Modesto scored into the empty net after it hit the post.
